Friday is here and we are preparing to go out to work at another home. This day is both exciting and sad as we know we will be here just one more day. Glad to be heading home tomorrow morning, but we will be leaving behind new friends, awesome fellowship and eye opening encounters with the people of the Appalachians.
Last night Lilly laid in bed and read to me what a fellow mission person of past trips had scrawled on the 2 x 4 that makes up our bunks. It read, "Every new beginning comes from another beginnings end."
We begin again! Life is good, to God be the glory.

WHAT AN AWESOME DAY!! We painted, scrapped, raked, hammered and generally had an awesome time working for the Lord today. Our thought that we carried with us today was 'Purpose' and at lunch time had some good discussion as to what that meant for each of us as individuals, as a group and how that effects those around us.
Regina was grateful for all the hard work and those at the DDC couldn't believe we got it all done in a day.
Repaired/painted a porch roof, kilzed/painted parts of the house, scrapped painted a garage/barn door, tarred parts of the roof, replaced part of the kitchen floor.
Tomorrow, we take the day off to enjoy the kids and then back to a full work schedule on Friday followed by another 13 hours homeward on Saturday am.

Dinner Stop on the way down
On our way down to Dungannon, we stopped at 'David's Buffet' restraunt. There happened to be a vending machine that sold 'mustaches' and all the kids decided they needed one. We all got a lot of laughs out of this, especially after being on the road for so long. Nice break on our way down.

We have had an amazing day and a half in Virginia. I just wanted to let everyone know that it is a little slow moving here and the wireless is not working so Sharon just told me she has a little box that will upload my pictures to the computers here.
We are getting ready to go out to a job site for the day, we are not sure where or what it is yet, but as soon as we get back this afternoon I will make sure all of our pictures and comments from the kids are posted today.

Arrival at Dungannon, VA
Arrived at Dungannon around 11:30pm exhausted, but when I walked in the door of the Phoenix Center an announcement of our arrival was SHOUTED out, "The Michigan people are here!!" We were bombarded with youth/adults rushing out the door and to the vans as sleepy eyed children made their way out of the vehicles and were greeted with what were strangers hug them, welcome them and grab bags and bundles to carry into their sleeping quarters. What an AWESOME welcome after such a long drive!! Yesterday it rained all day and we were assigned indoor work at a couple of Goodwill-type stores, rearranging, dusting, mopping, hanging, etc. We are readying ourselves today for 'work in the field' (Matthew 9:38). Breakfast/worship/devotionals and then out the door for the day.Really enjoying the additional fellowship with the many youth and adults that we share this small dormitory building with. FIFCC Jr/Sr Youth Mission sendoff
Sunday morning, Pastor Kevin and the Friends in Faith Community Church Family sent off their Jr/Sr Youth and Chaperones on a Mission trip to Dungannon, VA. for a week of working with the people of the Appalachian mountains. A continental breakfast was prepared and served followed by a prayer and blessing from Pastor Kevin Parkins for safe travel on their 11 hour journey and strength for the task ahead.
The FIFCC Jr/Sr Youth have been preparing for this trip for several months and have held fund raisers throughout the community in order to make this trip possible. Many of the Eau Claire and Berrien Springs community have been supporting us right along with our FIFCC church family and we would not have been able to make this trip without their help. We want to thank all of you for your support in making this trip possible. It will change the lives of our children and those they serve. -- 'Does He not see my ways and count my every step?'Job 31:4

Following the Flock
16 of our Jr./Sr. youth along with 4 adults, will be traveling to the Appalachians on a Mission Trip in July and we need to raise about $6,000 to cover fuel/meals/housing/material expenses between now and then. The first thing happening is an ongoing, Flamingoing (is that a word??) peoples yards for any free will donation. (This is the sign that goes in the yard along with the Flamingo's)

Why are we going?
There is a wide range of home repairs needed in the Dungannon community and surrounding areas of Scott County because many of the homeowners can't afford to do the work themselves, while others don't have the education or are physically unable to do much of the needed repairs to their own homes. Dungannon is in one of the more rural areas of Scott County. Scott County has no hospitals or no major retail stores such as Wal-mart or K-mart for that matter.

Then he said to the disciples, “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.”
What will it cost?
$225.00 per person; $6000.00 total trip including travel.
